Individual Therapy
Dr. Seidman offers therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. Depending on reason for referral and goals you will outline together in initial meetings, sessions may target: identification and healthy expression of feelings; reduction of anxiety; learning to implement age-appropriate coping strategies and reducing emotional reactivity; building independence, self-awareness, confidence, self-esteem, decision-making abilities, and problem-solving skills; reducing negative thinking patterns, and setting realistic goals and expectations.
Dr. Seidman utilizes an integrative approach in therapy, incorporating cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and psychodynamic techniques. Therapy may at times seek to increase insight and understanding to help explore the underlying roots behind persistent patterns of behavior and presenting difficulties, while other sessions may incorporate more skill-based, behavioral approaches, or play-based therapy when working with young children.
Dr. Seidman also offers executive function coaching as well as psychoeducational remediation to children, adolescents, and young adults. She helps students learn to identify and implement appropriate strategies based on their unique set of strengths and weaknesses in order to help improve their overall performance. This often helps to build academic confidence and overall relationship toward school and learning.
